Why I built this
I’m Mike Michelini. I built these systems because my own work was fragmented: chats, notes, tasks, dashboards, products, people, and AI tools that could not share context or act without me in every loop. Durable operating memory and headless authentication changed what was possible—not by removing humans, but by giving agents a real path to work while I kept judgment, direction, and accountability.
The operator background
I started selling online in 2004, moved to Asia in 2007, and spent the years since building and operating cross-border e-commerce businesses, services, events, and early-stage products. That includes an e-commerce venture studio, community and summit work under Global From Anywhere / Cross Border Summit, books on China and e-commerce, and hundreds of podcast episodes with operators in the field.
The point is not a résumé dump—it’s that Headless Empire is not a theory deck. It comes from running real multi-project operations under pressure, then teaching the same operating contract publicly.
The fragmentation problem
Owner-led businesses run on tribal knowledge and tab-switching. Copilots make individuals faster, but the organization still loses context between tools. When every system is an island, agents stay demos. When knowledge, tasks, visibility, and access share a contract, agents become operating collaborators.
Humans retain ownership
You keep judgment, taste, relationships, risk decisions, and final accountability. Approvals stay with humans unless a workflow explicitly delegates authority. Agents provide synthesis, continuity, execution, and leverage—not a replacement for ownership.
